The first ever Asian Retread Conference 2016 was graced by the dignified presence of prominent industry leaders and as many as over 250 delegates from 16 countries across the world.

Earlier, welcoming the distinguished guests and august gathering assembled in Sime Darby Convention Center, Malaysia, John Powath, the CEO of ABM, said that Tyre Asia took the initiative to organize the event in association with TRIB of USA based on the feedback that a specialized international conference highlighting the importance and advantages of the retreading industry was the need of the time. “it is our responsibility to save our planet. Mother Earth has to be saved from environmental disaster,” he said. In this respect, the retreading industry plays a very vital role. All have to be totally committed to taking this responsibility to help ensure a better environment for humanity.

Powath said Malaysia was chosen for the event as it has a very matured retread market. Its people are helpful and supportive. He said that Tyre Asia is pleased to organize the future ARCs in Malaysia on a regular basis where people most cordially welcome the event. Besides, there are great facilities for the attendees.

He noted that the import of cheap tyres has created a challenging and difficult time for the retreading industry worldwide. Now is the time for the global retreading industry to join hands to address the challenges. This conference will help the industry to enhance cooperation and create winning alliances within the industry and promote innovation, he hoped. There is need to educate the customers about the benefits of tyre retreading. The conference theme, GO GREEN: Retread, Rebuild & Recap, must be publicized widely among customers.

He concluded expressing his confidence that ARC 2016 would help all stakeholders to understand the real issues, challenges and opportunities facing the global retreading industry. It would help them take the necessary actions for its further progress and growth. John Powath announced that the next ARC will be held from October 2 – 3, 2018 at the same Sime Darby Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur.
